Photo: Coastal Dreams – Textile Art

Thanks to the covid pandemic I had limited access in 2020/21 to my usual casting facilities at Neo Studios is Bolton. Luckily I have a studio in my garden where I make my textiles for sculptures so started developing more textile only pieces, still using my signature style, recycled materials and embellishing & embroidery techniques and mounting on recycled canvas frames where possible. Knowing I was not the only one missing trips to the coast during lockdown, the Coastal Dreams series of works was born. This collection is influenced by the tones and textures of the coast, but I am also inspired by similar contrasts that I find in the countryside; in woods; on old stone walls/ruins and how nature creeps into the urban landscape. I am currently developing a Woodland Walks collection.

To maximise sustainability, my wall panels are mounted over old charity shop art, my cushions backed with shirts to form readymade fastenings and upholstery breathes new life into vintage chairs that I can source or be provided by the client. The limit of my source materials means the precise fabrics in the work are constantly changing, making each piece truly unique.

I have a collection of small works and panels available to buy from my Folksy shop but I am looking to connect with clients who wish to commission wall hung works or bespoke homewares. I recently showed these works at The Platform Gallery in Clitheroe and at Decorex 2023 as part of Design Nation. Please contact to discuss a commission.
