Woodland Walks

New series of work inspired by the tones and textures of moss, lichen and fungus using recycled and rust dyed materials. The papercrete casts explore issues of litter and how our waste is subsumed into our environment. As well as my usual technique of blending scraps from behind to mimic the lichen, I have old knitwear and sheers to create structured applique to mimic moss and more three dimensional types of lichen.
This collection was premiered as part of the 2024 Craft Open at Platform Gallery, Clitheroe and was on show as part of the New Mills Festival Art Trail.
“What Lies Beneath” was made as part of the Chorlton Craftivists Cycles of Change project for Chorlton Arts Festival 2024 and was also exhibited at The Festival of Quilts in the Quilt Creations category and “Overlooked” exhibition at World of Glass in St Helens.
“Unnatural Habitat I & II” were made as part of the 50 Bees project.
I run a variety of workshops exploring natural textures and landscapes using recycled materials.
