In business, sustainability is often an afterthought, if it is even considered at all. Companies need to place it on the main agenda when assessing plans for production, transport and afterlife of goods. This series of works uses business imagery to explore environmental issues.

Originally created for the 2025 Prism exhibition at The Art Pavilion, Mile End London. They were shown in for “Manchester Made” exhibition at Waterside Arts, Sale, Manchester. “12 Percent” has been selected for The Manchester Open 2026 at HOME, Manchester from 20th June – 6th Sept 2026.

Profit, outcomes and growth are not the only measurements of success in business. Sustainability must be considered as a main goal not just an afterthought. A bar chart showing the fight for balance between nature and manmade; business and the environment; also forming a forest or a post-apocalyptic city depending how you view it.

  • Leaving only 12% recycled in UK

98% of plastic is made from fossil fuels. 46% of plastic waste is packaging. Only 9% of plastic ever produced has been recycled.

Time is ticking, rushing towards the climate emergency deadline. The time for action is now but are all countries on the same timeline? The industrial revolution brought prosperity to the developed world but caused major environmental harm. We must learn from these mistakes, take responsibility, greater financial burden and help the developing countries to prosper/develop in a more sustainable way as they are also the countries most at risk from climate change.
