Crumpsall Carnival – school workshops

2014-06-25-12.37.04_webI spent a week as artist in residence at Abraham Moss Primary School. I worked with the whole school in small groups to create stuff for the Crumpsall Carnival. The theme was Bugs and Butterflies. As it is a new school there are only 3 year groups at present. Each year group had their own task.

Reception made fun foam butterflies, dragonflies and bees on sticks. They decorated them with stickers and attached ribbons and cellophane strips to flutter in the wind as they paraded with them.

Year 1 made large cardboard bugs and butterflies to wear on their backs in the carnival. They were decorated using tissue paper and glue.

Year 2/3 worked in their groups to make wings for the large butterfly puppets out of withies and cling-film decorated with multi-coloured shapes of sticky back plastic. They also drew and cut round their hands on coloured paper, cut them out and attached them to the giant caterpillar puppet.
